- The seminar corresponds to the conception of the bachelor study programme - Geography with a focus on education. It deals mainly with incorporating the content of the particular geographic disciplines contained in Bc. Study (physical geography, human geogrpahy, environmental geography etc.) into the current curriculum of primary and secondary schools in Czechia.

- Course objectives
- The course aims to convey the didactic and disciplinary pillars of teaching competence to students and, with the help of the pillars, to build the foundation of didactics of geography for primary and secondary schools.
In the course, we will ask and answer the basic questions of the pillars Progressive Objectives, Assessment is at the Beginning of Lesson Planning, Connection of Geography with Curricular Documents, Learning Tasks Developing Geographical Thinking, and Geographical Thinking.
The result of the student's activities is proposals and topics (materials and schemes) for creating teaching preparations for the following semester. - Learning outcomes
- Students conduct analyses in these pillars with the following outputs:
Introduction lesson:
- Classifies the specifics of each pillar, describes their interrelationships, and creates a list of materials for analysis
Connection of Geography with Curricular Documents:
- Characterizes the position of geography in the curriculum of primary and lower secondary and secondary schools in Czechia.
- Evaluates how particular geographic disciplines are implemented in the curriculum of primary and lower secondary and secondary schools in Czechia.
- Characterizes the design of geography in the textbooks of primary, lower secondary, and secondary schools in Czechia.
- Describes the idea of linking key competencies with geographic topics.
Geographical Thinking:
- Describes the specifics of geography as a subject.
- Characterizes and illustrates modern trends in geography teaching.
- Characterizes the nature of geographical thinking in education.
Assessment is at the Beginning of Lesson Planning:
- Characterizes assessment opportunities that influence the development of geographical thinking.
Progressive Objectives:
- Describes different conceptions of geography curriculum at particular stages of schooling in Czechia.
- Characterizes the progression of geographical thinking.
- Characterizes the follow-up and linking of themes.
Learning Tasks Developing Geographical Thinking:
- Describes the types of learning tasks that can be used for the development of geographical thinking. - Syllabus
- Students' activities are based on analyses of curriculum documents such as FEPs, textbooks, and their own conceptual maps and tables from previous instruction.

Individual, pair, and group work with professional information sources.
Presentation of individual/pair/group work results at each seminar. - Assessment methods
- Elaboration of given seminar work, timely submission and approval by the teacher of the subject.
The examination consists of 5 open-ended questions from the required literature.
