- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to extend and practice the acquired knowledge of the student in the field of linguistic studies and to aplly it in the analysis of situationally defined texts (register, style, genre). The grammatical means ate considered with regards to their role in the building of the textual structure and texture. The course further includes creating language teaching materials based on discourse strategies designed for upper grades of secondary school students.

Methods of analysis - DA and CDA.A framework for text analysis. 5. The structure of a text. Text typology. 6. The texture of a text. Cohesion and coherence. 7. Patterns of thematic progression. 8. Text analysis - markers of formality and politeness. 9. Spoken text analysis - markers of subjectivity and implicitness. 10. Written text analysis - markers of objectivity and explicitness.
