Course objectives
There is presupposed knowledge of the linguistic disciplines dealing with contemporary language - syntax, stylistics and language analysis of the texts. The students gain the theoretical information about text linguistics (terminology of the text and textual structure, composition, language means of the textual coherence). Those theoretical knowledges are initial data for the complex analysis of the text.
Syllabus
  • 1. Textual (text) linguistics in the linguistic treatisies in the Czech republic and abroad. 2. Terminology of the text linguistic. Text - talk; sentence - utterance. Monologue, dialogue. Spoken and written tests. Communication and communicative situation/discourse. Sentence and utterance in the Czech linguistic treatisies (Hrbáček, Daneš, O. Muellerová...). Types of texts. Textual scheme (pattern). 3. Structure of the texts (of the technical texts, of the literary texts). 4. The coherence of the texts, language means of the textual coherence. Connective words - connectors. Types of the connectors from structural point of view (words, compound connectors...). Connectors and word cathegories (particles, conjunctions...). The textual function of the connectors. 5. Grammar and the text coherence (grammatical congruence and coherence, syntactical relations and coherence). 6. Functional perspective of the sentence and text structure. Ellpsis, the types of ellipsis. 7. Semantic relation of the vocabulary in the texts. Semantic identity - absolute identity, parcial identity. Semantic coherence. 8. Connection of the textual units in the texts and connection of the textual units and texts with the discourse. Language means of the contact, their function. Deictical words in the texts and discourses. 9. Complex analysis of the language means of the textual coherence in special texts.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Typ výuky: přednáška Předmět je ukončen zápočtem. Předpokladem pro udělení zápočtu je prokázání znalostí látky z přednášek v průběhu semestru podle uvedené osnovy. Znalosti je možno získat též studiem doporučené literatury (viz seznam zde). Znalosti budou ověřovány v zápočtovém týdnu v průběhu krátkého rozhovoru vyučující se studenty.
