Course objectives
The aim of the course is to develop basic knowledge of current problems of contemporary Czech stylistics. The content of the course includes the theory of style differentiation of Czech and we focused the attention on the objective styles, especially on functional styles and their dynamism. The important point of this course is to know the stylistic values of means of expression and mastery in the communication using different styles. We understand a style as a complex textual proposition, including all means of expression forming the style of the text.
Syllabus
  • 1 Orientation in the contemporary stylistic terminology. 2 Stylistic factors and their reflection in differentiated verbal communication. 3 Style differentiation of the contemporary Czech language as a reflection of a dynamic development of communication. 4 Formations and transformations of particular functional styles (publicist style, advertising style and others). 5 Characteristic features of functional styles (basic and principal styles from the social aspect). 6 Constant and variable stylistic values of the means of expression. 7 Levels of style, development of characteristic features (mentioned in lexicography). 8 Composition, style procedures and their modifications in a real communication.
