Course objectives
The seminar covers the Czech poetry and drama in the years 1945-1989 (including the inner differentiation between the years 1948 and 1968). The individual topics are presented in chronological order, selected chapters are chosen in order to maintain the notion of continuity of the literary process in this period. Individual seminars will focus on more complex wholes, e.g. works similar in themes (e.g. first and second wave of the post-war prose, historical prose, so-called confrontational prose etc.) or works of an outstanding personality of the period).
Syllabus
  • 1. Czech prose 1945-1948. 2. Czech prose 1948-1956. 3. Czech prose 1957-1968. 4. Czech prose 1969-1989. 5. Czech theatre and drama after the year 1945.
