Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop students' speaking skills and improve students' pronunciation with focus on individual sounds as well as prosodic features. The students will practise loud reading in their Children´s literature course and expressive presentation of stories.
At the end of the course students should be able to differentiate between typical English sounds, be aware of differences between words arising from their pronunciation in order to be able to serve as a good model for their future students.
Syllabus
  • During the course students will work on the following features:
  • 1. Word stress
  • 2. Sentence stress
  • 3. Pronunciation of -ing
  • 4. Long and short vowels
  • 5. Stress and rhythm
  • 6. Sentence stress
  • 7. -ed endings, sentence stress - questions
  • 8. Contrasting vowels
  • 9. Contrasting consonants
  • 10. Linking
  • 11. Revision of vowel sounds
  • 12. Revision of consonant sounds
