Course objectives
The subject introduces students to the evolution of literary genres: it pays special attention to the evolution of novel and to the ontology and typology of drama. Students will get an inside into the literary trends and movements, as well as into the specific nature of their poetics. They will be able to analyze the style of outstanding personalities of the literary process of the period in question, using literary terminology.

Novel - gothic 7. Changes of the novel in the era of Romanticism 8. “New Novel“ 9. Drama – comparison to lyrics and epics (different depiction methods) 10.Text of the Drama – paralinguistic and extra linguistics elements of the drama 11. Dialogue building – basic types, remarks - functionality 12. Drama composition 13. Basic features and changes – classicist drama, romantic drama, realistic drama 14. Model drama, absurd drama 15. Changes of the absurd drama, post modern features in the drama

Teaching methods
Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.

Type of course: Lecture Credit requirements: active participation, colloquium – discussion over the topics covered in lectures.
