Course objectives
The main objectives of the course can be summarized as follows: to understand the basic features of Russian folk, old Russian literature and culture; to learn the history of old Russian literature and its relations with the historical and political conditions in Russia; to understand the main topics of literary science and their application in the text analysis in to analyze the relations of Russian folklore and literature; to understand and analyze the relations between literature, art and music; to understand and analyze the relations between the style, movement and genre in their historical evolution; (papers written by the students)

  • 4. Literary criticism, history of literature, textology, bibliography, archival science, etc.

  • 7. Comparative-historical method in literature
  • 8. Versification
  • 9. The main problems of genology, literary genres and movements.
  • 10. Aesthetics – terminology, European and Russian schools of aesthetics and literary scholarship
  • 11. Close reading of Russian literature

Lectures, self-study, written essey.
Assessment methods
The oral credit - a written test, an individual final project: a paper (9000 signs , a list of the used literature, abstract in Russian or in another language). Reading of Russian literature (a list of the books which were read). The examination including essay/recension and written test of literary terminology
