- Cíle předmětu
- The main goal of the course is to master characteristic features of English syntax, mainly in comparison with the structure of the students mother tongue. The differences between the simple sentence, compound sentence and complex sentence will be studied. All types of dependent clauses, complex condensation and information processing will be included in the course syllabus too.

Chapter 10 B - The -ing form as gerund. March: Chapter 13 - cont. Chapter 10 C - Verbs taking the infinitive or -ing (participle) according to meaning. - Výukové metody
- Mode of teaching: seminar The methods used in classes are mainly presentations of new and/or problematic grammatical issues by the teacher, followed by class discussions and questions from students, and various types of exercises from compulsory textbooks, including drills. As for homework, students are supposed to study in advance relevant chapters from their textbooks and translate sentences from Czech into English. Apart from that, students have to do various interactive moodle modules including quizzes designed particularly for their course.
- Metody hodnocení
- In order to be allowed to sit for the oral exam students have to pass a mid-term test and translation, and a final exam test and translation. The final exam test and translation comprise the subject matter from the whole year and the result is part of the oral exam. The oral exam comprises the subject matter from the whole academic year.
