- Course objectives
- Through analysis and interpretation of selected pieces of literature, the seminar offers students a more thorough understanding of Czech post-war literature. It is a follow-up to the obligatory seminar on Czech literature after the year 1945. Students will analyse texts and identify the basic characteristics of the style of individual periods as well as the specificity of poetics of individual literary groups and outstanding personalities. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively.

- Teaching methods
- In the form of a seminar (analyses and interpretations of selected works), students will use and enhance their knowledge of Czech literature in the given period. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities of Czech poetry and prose. They will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
- Assessment methods
- Credit requirements: students hand in written preparations (analysis and interpretations) for every individual seminar. They also work out excerpts from 50 books of recommended secondary literature.
