- Course objectives
- Students apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired in the study of subjects Contemporary Czech language I to V. They learn to recognize text structure, get familiar with the rules of text segmentation, recognizes the function of units from lower levels of language in relation to their position in utterance and text. They are able to evaluate deficiencies in the construction of text and syntactic structure of spoken and written utterances. They can explain the most common irregularities from the codification of morphology and their causes. They perform correction of grammatical and spelling errors in the text ( excellent knowledge of the Czech orthography required).
- Syllabus
- 1. Text as a unit of language communication. Structure of the text. Basic terminology. 2. Texts of spoken and written communication, their characteristics. 3. Analysis of concrete written texts. Composition of texts, the most frequent mistakes in the text composition, their evaluation. 4. Syntactical structure of the minimal text unit, i.e.utterance. Irregularities in the regular structure of the sentence and their evaluation.Intentional irregularities ( ellipsis, separated elements of the sentence etc.)and their functions. 5. Deficiencies in the syntactical structure of the written utterances. Deficiencies in the syntactical structure of the spoken utterances (repetition, filling words, defective syntactical structure etc.). 6. Lexical units in the utterances. Stylistic markers of the lexical units. Malfunction usage of the lexical units with the stylistic markers. 7. Morphological analysis of the texts. The most frequent irregularities from morphological codification and their causes. Correction of the grammatical and orthographic mistakes in the text. 8. Complex linguistic analysis of the text. Analysis of the orthographical, morphological, lexical and syntactical mistakes and their mutual relationships. Stylistic deficiencies in the text. .

- Teaching methods
- Type of study: consultation. The study contains above all methods based on the thought operations, namely in analysis and synthesis. methods of practising and consolidation the study topics, problem method, methods of individual and group work. Whereas the attendance of study for combined and distant study form students is not compulsory and the number of contact lessons is low, self-study is expected.Attendance at continuous tests is set as compulsory.
- Assessment methods
- The subject is finished with credit. To obtain the credit students must manage two written tests successfully, which investigate their knowledge of the syllable. Students must obtain 80% of given tasks. In the other test (orthographical correction of the text)containing twenty sentences 3 orthographical mistakes are allowed.According to the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk University it is possible in justified cases to apply for finishing the subject at second re-sit date.
