- Course objectives
- The main goals of the psycho-hygiene course are understanding basic terms and concepts of health psychology and psycho-hygiene. The course also includes issues of a healthy lifestyle and knowledge and skills in the area concerning coping with stress, effective rest and maintaining the optimum performance. Both in theory and practice an emphasis is given on primary prevention and on health education. After finishing the course, the student can manage education and self-education for health in somatic, psychic and social areas.

- Specification and the subject of psychology. Basic concepts of psycho-hygiene. Health psychology, its specification and tasks. World Health Organisation (WHO), its goals and program. HEALTH FOR 21ST CENTURY. Definition of health categories. Prevention. Performance, work ability and fatigue. Psycho-hygiene of rest. Relaxation and recreation. The course of performance. Biorhythm. The curves of performance. School-timetable optimization. Psycho-hygiene of free time. Game and relaxation. Psycho-hygiene of sleep. Imagination and relaxation. Stress phenomenon. The theory of stress development in medicine and in psychology. Conception of stress and its theory. Theory of Selye and Lazarus. Eustress and distress. Demanding life situations and coping with them. Coping process. Phenomenon of indomitability. The issue of burnout syndrome and the process of it. Neurotic disorders. Specification and evolution of the concept. Neurosis prevention. Psychology of health, psycho-hygiene and psychotherapy. Psychotherapy and education. Psycho-hygiene of teaching. Overloading in schools. Stage-fright. The role of physical environmental conditions. Self-learning. Self-education. Self-management. Quality of life and lifestyle. Psychic mechanism of addiction.
