Course objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able to find the particularities of folk culture in specific areas of Czech Republic and to discern the main differences between the folk songs there. They should be able to apply these konowledges to singing and educational activities.
Syllabus
  • Two basic types of folk songs in Czech Republic. The types of folk songs in different areas of Bohemia and Moravia. Collections of bohemian and moravian folk songs. Traditional culture, regional aspect. Interpreter of folk songs and folk music. Listening to music recording, singing of folk songs.

Teaching methods
Bookwork. Class discussion. Lectures, presentation of folk songs, folk music, pictures and maps, collections of folk songs, class discussion.
Assessment methods
Requirements for credit: Oral project (different subjects: knowledges about folk music in specific regions and their practical presentation, interpreter of folk songs and folk music, activities of folklore ensembles etc.). Theoretical essay could be completed with practical ilustrations (singing, listening to music, video).
