Course objectives
On the base of self-reading students familiarize oneself the main works since the beginning so-called "naturalnaya schkola" to the Russian literatury stream at the 18. until 1/2 19. century.
Syllabus
  • 1) The periodization of Russian literature, the main stages of its development and dominant literary artefacts (11th -17th centuries) 2) The beginnings of secularization and Europeization of Russian literature in the 17th century 4) The consequences of the reforms of Peter the Great in culture and literature 4) The birth of modern Russian literature 5) Modern Russian prose 6) The Rise of the Russian novel 7) Literary Streams in 18th-century Russian literature and at the beginning of the 19th century (Russian renaissance, neoclassicism, sentimentalism, preromanticism, romanticism)
