- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to make the students familiar with basic art tendencies and personalities of contemporary Russian literature and drama, to help them understand the Russian literal creations and teach them to interpret these creations independently.
- Syllabus
- yThe following themes are to be covered in the subject: 1. Dramatical activities in the period of stagnation – "the new wave" 2. Dramatical adaptations and socio-philosophical interpretations of historical subjects (E. Radzinskiy, G. Gorin) 3. Shacktown literature of the pregorbatschow and postgorbatschow period in the Russian and international politico-historical context 4. Beginning of Russian literal postmodernism and its differences from Western postmodern literature 5. Variations on Tschechov in contemporary Russian drama 6. Adaptations of Gogols creations in contemporary Russian drama 7. Russian analogy to European "new writing" in drama
