- Course objectives
- The main aim of the subject is to teach students to structuralise subject matter in the context of EE, to transfer it into adequate forms of activities for pupils, to train students in observance of fundamentals of EE, to select appropriate methods, inter-disciplinary approach, regional viewpoint, to allow for student's self-realisation (regarding ecologically desirable life style etc.). At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand the ways of application of Environmental education in educational practice, use data to develop ecologically friendly attitudes;
- Syllabus
- The situation and recent issues of the environment in the Czech Republic, global problems of the environment. The basic ecological implications in examples for the lower classes of elementary school. Sustainable development and ecologically positive lifestyle. Environmental education of the public in municipalities, the Law 123/98 on the right of information about the environment, Agenda 21 and the Local Agenda 21, the nature and environment preservation in municipalities, the role of independent societies. Ecological (environmental) education in the school educational programme and in teaching. The nature preservation in elementary school teaching and out-of-school activities. The indicators of environmental impact of the school. The ecologisation of teaching and school activities, practical knowledge and motives from the so called home ecology. The aims of ecological education, pupils competence acquirable through ecological education. The role of the environmental education coordinator in school.
