At the end of the course, students should be able to define and explain the basic concepts of morphological analysis (e.g., morpheme, paradigm, word form etc.); they are able to identify the internal structure of inflected or derived words and to distinguish between both types (inflection vs. derivation); they become aware of the different possibilities of arranging German nouns into inflectional classes and are able to compare and evaluate the different approaches; they are able to name the grammatical categories relevant in the nominal domain and can demonstrate their relevance for different nominal parts of speech.
