- Course objectives
- Education and training of individuals with physical disabilities: The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic concepts of the field physically disabilities: subject, etiology, classification and characteristics of physical disabilities. Redress. Methodology, didactics. The system of special care facilities for pupils with physical disabilities. Prevention, integration, consultancy. After successful completion, the student will be well oriented in problems of upbringing and education of children and pupils with physical disabilities and therapy. He can characterize different types of disability. Students will focus on counseling and diagnosis of physical disabilities.

- Course syllabus: 1. The development of the society towards physically disabilities and ill persons. 2. Creating and development of somatopaedia, main representatives (Jedlička, Bartoš, Chlup, Bakule, Monatová, Kábele) 3. The current situation in education of physically disabled (rehabilitation units, special pre-school education, special schools elementary and grammar schools). 4. Integration of physically disabled to main stream schools, law 5. System of counselling in the Czech Republic 6. Organisation of hospital schools (content and organisation of education, studying plans, curriculum, and books). 7. Characteristic of chronically ill 8. Consideration and tasks of hospital schools, evaluation, classification. 9. Epilepsy. 10. Specifics of work with chronically ill. 11. Classification of physical dysfunctions. 12. Central and peripheral paresis, characteristic of the most often disorders by children. 13. Central and peripheral paresis, characteristic of the most often diseases 14. Cerebral palsy, aetiology, forms of CP, psycho-motor development, approaches, support 15. Poliomyelitis, aetiology, consequences. 16. Deformations, classification, approaches, support of child/ pupil 17. Perthess disease, aetiology, consequences, care. 19. Degenerative disorders of body 20. Muscular dystrophy (myopathy), aetiology, consequences, care, support, psychological aspects, support of family, SMA
