Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at the Intermediate Level. The basic study material is the coursebook New English File Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials. At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at the Intermediate Level and communicate in the language fluently.
Syllabus
  • The syllabus includes: speaking activities reading comprehension writing narratives listening comprehension
  • interaction. Students will participate in weekly activities and complete work outside of class in the coursebook and on Moodlinka.

Assessment methods
Maximum points for the semester : 200 points/ pass mark 140 points (to pass the tests students must reach minimum 70 %) Components of the assessment: written end-of-semester test based on the files covered in the seminars: pass mark 70%: 80 p (two resits) oral interviews: 50 p (no resits for this part, students get points for the overall assessment) placement test : 1 - 10 points (beginning of the semester) placement test: 2 - 20 points (end of the semester) progress test: 10 points (mid semester, no resits) continuous assessment based on active participation in the seminars: 30 points
