- Prerequisites
- The terminology and subject knowledge from individual physical geographical sciences (geomorphology, climatology, hydrology, soil geography and biogeography) and from landscape ecology are advantages. The ability to integrate the analytic knowledge in scientific and regional manner represents a very important condition.

- Course objectives
- The aim the subject is to demonstrate geographical knowledge about individual nature components of the Czech territory and about their time/space relationships. At the end of the semester, students have to be able to know basic physical geographical features (geological, geomorphological, climatic, hydrological, soil, biota and landscape ones) of the territory of Czech Republic. The information about these features will be given in lectures by the spoken word, in digital presentations as well as using maps. The practical work with acquired knowledge will be applied in seminars. Students understand the criteria for the definition of Czech regions, they can describe regions in their factual context, they understand internal spatial structure of regions and can explain their features.

- List of lectures: 1. Geographical position of Czech Republic. Climate on the territory of Czech Republic and its impact on the environment.
- 2. Waters on the territory of Czech Republic and their impact on the environment.
- 3. Geological structure and geomorphology of Czech lands and their role in the environment.
- 4. Soils on the territory of Czech Republic, geographical regularities in their territorial distribution and their role in the environment.
- 5. Biota in Czech Republic, territorial distribution, role in the environment, its protection.
- 6. Natural landscapes of Czech Republic.
- 7. Landscape protection in Czech Republic.
- 8. Basic geographical characteristics of the Czech Republic. Administrative division of the CR. Residential structure. Population of the CR - the dynamic and structural characteristics of the population. Labour market of the CR.
- 9. Regional-geographical aspects of the primary sector - agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
- 10. Specifics of the economic development of the CR. Basic aspects of industry.
- 11. Geographic aspects of tourism in the country.
- 12. Transport geography of the CR in general and sectoral report. - Geography of services and trade as a separate discipline.

- Assessment methods
- The course of subject is based on oral lectures and individual work. Subject is completed by passing written test. If written test is not successful repeatedly, oral exam is possible. Seminar credit represents the precondition for examination.
