- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the tradition of Czech cantors as specific Czech music and pedagogical culture from 17 to 19 cent. and with important personalities in this group. Special attention will be paid to the personality of Jakub Jan Ryba, who was an important composer, music teacher and writer and is considered the leading personalities among Czech cantors.

- Education Organization (cantor, his qualifications, school, students, helpers). Educational reforms of Maria Theresa and Joseph II. Cantor as a musician (instrumentalist, bandleader, composer, ...). Types of cantor's compositions (liturgical music, pastoral music, singspiel, instrumental music). Notable personalities of the group (Tomáš Norbert Koutník, Citoliby school, Josef Schreier, Jiří Ignác Linek and others). Jakub Jan Ryba (his pedagogical work, music theory, different periods of his work as a composer).
