- Prerequisites
- The terminology and subject knowledge from individual physical geographical sciences (geomorphology, climatology, hydrology, soil geography and biogeography) and from landscape ecology are advantages. The ability to integrate the analytic knowledge in scientific and regional manner represents a very important condition.

- Course objectives
- The aim the subject is to demonstrate geographical knowledge about individual nature components of the Czech territory and about their relationships with the national economy. At the end of the semester, students have to be able to know basic physical geographical features (geological, geomorphological, climatic, hydrological, soil, biota and landscape ones) of the territory of Czech Republic and especially of her home egion. TThe practical work is focused on completing the digital atlas of the home region. The aim the subject is also to demonstrate geographical relationships between individual human geographical components of the Czech territory and the features of the nature. Students are able to justify the definition of Czech regions, to describe regions in an integrated form and explain their characteristics verbally. Students are able to complete a digital atlas of their home region.

- List of lectures: 1. Geographical position of the selected region. Climate on the territory of the region and its impact on the environment.
- 2. Waters and their impact on the region´s environment.
- 3. Geological structure and geomorphology of the egion and their role in the environment.
- 4. Soils on the territory of the region, geographical regularities in their territorial distribution and their role in the environment.
- 5. Biota in the region, territorial distribution, role in the environment, its protection.
- 6. Atlas construction.

- Individual work, seminary, field work.
- Assessment methods
- The education runs both in the class room and during individual work of the student. The task of the subject is represented by the construction of a regional atlas of CR/region/or other defined area at the scale of 1:1M or larger. The atlas consists of a set of maps depicting individual natural landscape components (6 maps)in the selected territory. After the atlas is delivered, credits are submitted.
