- Course objectives
- The student is able to identify and describe the basic phenomena related to Russian culture, has an understanding of connection between this phenomena, can explain and describe them.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction - basic geographic information, the most important milestones of Russian history, the Russian national character, contemporary Russian society 2. Religion - the adoption of Christianity in Russia, the influence of Christianity on culture and daily life, the Russian Orthodox Church, most important Orthodox churches in Russia, icon painters and icons (A. Rublev, F. Grek) 3. The Russian folklore - mythology and the Russian fairy tale, "bylina", art and traditional crafts (matryoshka, khokhloma, gžel and others), traditional musical instruments 4. Russian holidays and traditions - folk, religious and national holidays, traditions and customs (Maslenica, New Year, Easter, etc.) 5. Peoples of Russia - traditions, customs and religions of the ethnic groups living on the territory of Russia, traditional clothing and kitchen, living space and the current status 6. Significant representatives of Russian culture - Mussorgsky (Mighty handful), Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, painters Kandinsky, Malevich, Chagall and others, Djagilev and Russian season

- Teaching methods
- Students are familiarized with the basic features of Russian culture, national character, folklore and everyday life, traditions and customs. Interpretation focuses on emphasizing the connections between phenomena and is accompanied by a rich pictorial, audio and video material. Students are also familiarized with important works of art, literature or music, which reflect the phenomena. Students working with interactive syllabus, which serves as a main course study material.
