- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to broaden the knowledge of Russian syntax with regard to the similarities and differences between the Russian and Czech languages and to apply that knowledge in practical language; to provide information about difficult punctuation cases. The attention is also focused on translation of syntactic phenomena from Russian into Czech language.
At the end of this course the student will be able to explain the differences in the structure of Russian and Czech sentences; to interpret the Russian syntactic phenomena; to apply acquired knowledge practically. - Syllabus
- Word order in Russian sentence. Comparison with Czech language.
- Principles of Russian punctuation. Basic rules of punctuation.
- Punctuation in sentences with attributes and appositions.
- Use of conjuctions in complex sentences (yesli/li, chto/chtoby).
- Punctuation in citations. The rules of punctuation.
- Combination of punctuatian marks in a sentence.
