- Course objectives
- The course will be based on students' own presentations taken from a range of options given in the moodlinka course.
At the end of the course students:
should have a well developed sense of the subtleties of English,
should have a basic command of collocations, connotations, register, etc).
should have developed their reading skills (extra material provided) and work on their vocabulary. - Learning outcomes
- On completion of the course students will be able to conduct lessons entirely in English, they will be able to analyze and assess the effectiveness of various activities, and will also have experience in creating their own. Their language skills will have further developed toward C1 level.
- Syllabus
- Topics covered include: Advice for new teachers, education of minority students, teaching tolerance, education in society. This semester you should complete: 1. A presentation (either A or B) 2. Your portfolio 3. The forum entries 4. The end of semester test The portfolio should be handed in during the penultimate lesson and will be given back in the last lesson. In class we will study unit 7 from New English File and the other materials on Moodlinka. A. Give a 10-minute presentation on a topic for the linguistics State exam. The topic is up to you but it could be anything which you would like to revise yourself or which you think would be beneficial for the others. This will be done in groups. B. Give a 10-minute presentation on your thesis topic. As your thesis defense requires a 10-minute presentation, this is an opportunity to prepare for your defense and get feedback from the class on the clarity of your presentation. Obviously if you are writing it in English it would be particularly helpful for you but even if you are writing it in another subject it is a chance for you to organise your ideas for the exam. This will be done in small groups. Semester Assessment: Forum entries 20 Test based on the New English File materials and a listening and reading 60 Presentation 20 Portfolio 20

- Classes will involve group- and pair-work and all students will be expected to participate. The course finishes with a credit, to obtain this students must pass continuous assessment with 70%.
