- Course objectives
- The course focuses on different methods and approaches in English language teaching (ELT). The aim of the course is to enable students to make informed decisions in selecting positive aspects of different methods and approaches and create their own eclectic approach to ELT.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to: • demonstrate the understanding of the concept of continuing professional development; • prepare a plan of their own professional development; • share and evaluate their own teaching practice; • reflect on their own teaching practice in the form of a collective reflection along with other students; • design action research to be used in their own class/group of learners.

- 1. Introduction, course requirements, presentations 2. Grammar-Translation Method, Direct Method 3. Audio-Lingual Method. The role of mother tongue in foreign language teaching 4. TPR, Suggestopedia 5. Communicative approach, Task-based learning, CLIL 6. Lexical approach, Corpora in ELT + Eclectic approach, post-method era, learner-centred approach.
