Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to convince students about the importance of environmental education, to deepen their knowledge and skills in ecology and didactics of environmental education, to broaden their overview of current problems and related literature, to provide practical ideas and inspiration for teaching, to enable students to present their own opinions and individual pedagogical approaches.
Syllabus
  • Information on the environment, the right to receive information on the environment. Protection of nature and landscape in the Czech Republic and the EU. Selected global environmental issues. The position of environmental education in primary school education, teaching outdoors and in the school garden. Ecological education in the family and in extra curricular activities. Efficiency of environmental activity and the possibility of increasing it. Environmental education programs as part of primary school education. Orientation in values and environmentally friendly ways of human behaiour. Miracles in nature, a summary of basic ecological concepts and environmental contexts. Practical demonstrations of activating methods which can be used in EEC.

Teaching methods
Lecture, guided discussion, research lesson, team work, independent work with literature.
Assessment methods
Reading and critical review of a book from the field of environmental and ecological literature of your choice. 100% attendance, individual catch-up for missed lessons if necessary.
