Course objectives
The course is focused on acquiring knowledge and skills of quality management. Attention is paid to the field of trade and services. The subject reflects the latest information in quality control and current legislation at national and EU level.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the basic principles of quality management system, and the possibilities of using the ISO system in the management of the organization. Students will be able to use information about the quality management system for education and will be able to orientate in the professional literature. Student will understand the types of quality certificates and will have the basic information for the application of quality in employment.
Syllabus
  • Session 1:
    Introduction to quality. History of quality. Basic concepts. The reasons for the interest about quality. Quality characteristics. Process approach. Standards of ISO. Specifics of services quality. Strategy of national quality policy. Czech Quality Program. The EU's approach to quality. Regulated and unregulated sphere. Legislation of the Czech Republic and the EU.
  • Session 2:
    Organizational requirements on the Quality Management System. Requirements on management in Quality Management System. Document management. Quality Manual. Inputs and outputs for review. Disagreement. Corrective actions.
  • Session 3:
    Precautions. Review. Tools and methods of quality control. PDCA. Pareto rule. 7 traditional tools of quality management. Quality and service. Types of services.
  • Session 4:
    Consumer protection. Consumer rights by CI. Consumer protection in the EU. Legal consumer protection in Czech Republic. Supervisory authorities. Technical standardization. Metrology. Czech Metrology Institute. 7 management tools.
