- Course objectives
- At the end of the course the student is able to use the tools of Orff´s musical instruments in practice. A student will be able to create the rhythmical and melodic score for the songs. A student will learn basic musical elements of kinaesthetic activities and their usage in the context of interdisciplinary links.
- Syllabus
- 1. Instrumental activities – rhythmical and melodic accompaniments; musical instruments – grouping; musical instruments of Carl Orff. 2. Ritual and other musical therapeutic instruments and their usage in lower Years of Primary School Education. 3. Creative musical instruments (handmade); innovative tools for music activities. 4. Boomwhackers – technique of playing, their usage and notation. 5. Musical Kinaesthetic Education – dance and movement games. Elementary kinaesthetic elements – a play on the body/body sounds, imitation games, conducting (canon).

- Teaching methods
- Practical preparation: singing – monophonic/polyphonic song/canon – accompaniment on Orff´s musical instruments; conducting. Playing the piano and soprano recorder; a play on the body/body sounds. Processing and recording the rhythmical and melodic instrumental accompaniment to score. Work on the subject of teaching portfolio for Music.
- Assessment methods
- Type of teaching: seminar. Credit requirements: a) A minimum of 80% active participation in seminars. b) Mastering the basics of playing the soprano recorder (5 folk songs, 3 songs arranged for small children (h1, a1, g1, c2, d2)). c) 10 folk songs (4 of them for two voices) for the 3rd and 4th Year of a Primary School, 2 songs from Ladislav Němec and 2 artificial songs: singing, playing the piano – transposition of 2 folk songs to Major 2nd (up and down), conducting, optional accompaniment for songs – rhythmical, instrumental or kinaesthetic element. d) 5 nursery rhymes/poems – rhythmical accompaniment by using basic musical instruments or kinaesthetic interpretation. e) Processing the score to 2 songs using elementary rhythmical and melodic musical instruments. f) Work on the subject of teaching portfolio for Music.
