Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic concepts of geriatrics, with factors that affect aging, and with the changes that occur during this life period. Furthermore, students learn about the most important disease states associated with old age and aging, about their treatment, stabilization and prevention.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to explain the basic concepts of geriatrics, to enumerate and characterize factors that influence the aging of the organism. It will also be able to list and explain the changes that occur in the human body during its aging. They will be able to characterize serious illnesses associated with old age, discuss the possibilities of their therapy and prevention.

Key demographic, social and medical issues related to elderly care 5. The most important diseases related to old age 6. Active aging, health care, healthy lifestyle 7. Possibilities of treatment and prevention of diseases in old age
