Course objectives
The course deepens students’ cognition and comprehension of research theories, approaches and methods related to the particular research issue, particularly in the field of literary theory and history. The emphasis is put on methodology that is applied in conventional literary research but there is also space for studying new methodologies which can be used for exploring literature spread via digital media. Students should not only acquire these methodologies but also learn to use them effectively in research. Acquirement of them should be manifested with creation of high-quality academic study and its presentation.

  • Selected methods of literary research. Literary historiography and its methodology. Methodology of research of inter-war Czech poetry. Methodology of research of inter-war Czech prose. Methodology of research of inter-war Czech drama. Changes of literary methodology from the sixties to the beginning of the nineties of the 20th century. Impulses of foreign literary methodology after 1989. Specifics of research methodology of literature spread via digital media. Specifics of methodological approaches to children’s and young adult literature and children’s readership. Research results processing and interpretation. Principles of presentation of research work.
