Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the concept of the special and inclusive education in international perspectives. The students will have an opportunity to get in touch with foreing experts in the field of international aspects of special and inclusive education. Within the lectures, following questions will be targeted: How is the situation in other countries? What are the attitudes, approaches, the current issues in different countries? How are support measures implemented in foreign countries?
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- describe the situation in other countries,
- reflect new information and compare it with the situation in their own country,
- understand the differences across the world,
- think about different factors influencing the life of children, youth and adults with special educational needs (education, work, family etc.)
Syllabus
  • The course offers different topics according to the lecturers (will be updated).
  • Provided topics are connected with contemporary aspects of education in individuals with special educational needs, vocational training, social support and legislation, as well as personal development of individuals with special educational needs during their life.

Assessment methods
To succesfully pass the course, the student has to:
- Attend lectures or choose from offered options (all together min. 2). The lecture schedule will be updated in course sylaby. For the course attendance, student is asked to register himself/herself into particular seminar group in IS based on his/her interest;
- Write a report in English about each visited lecture. The students have to write a report on the lecture content and reflect on the situation in his/her country of origin and the benefits for the study and/or for own profession;
- The report from the first lecture (450-700 words per lecture) must be uploaded to the homework vaults until 31st May 2020;
- The reports from the options 1-4 (500-700 words per option) must be uploaded to the homework vaults – Option 1-4 until 14th June 2020;
- The students receive feedback from the teachers.
