- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint the student with the issues of general, artistic and musical semiotics with emphasis on its syntactic, semantic and pragmatic level with the potential of application in the process of music education.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the student will be able to understand the general and specialized semiotics from the pragmatic point of view of pedagogical applications in music education.

- Musical structure as a sign, music as a sign system - signification of music work as specific communication.
- Syntactic, semantic and pragmatic level of semiotics.
- History of semiotical thinking (general semiotics, social, art, musical seimiotics).
- Musical structure as a sign, music as a sign system (J. Volek).
- Specific concepts of Czech semiotics.
- Prague musical semiotic Team (Interdisciplinary team for expression and communication systems of art (Poledňák - Jiranek).
