- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to mediate deeper knowledge and understanding of scientific theories, approaches and methods related to a research issue to students, especially in these research fields: morphology, lexicology, stylistics and onomastics with respect to a communication practice. An emphasis is placed on acquirement of methodology of corpus data processing on the basis of work with written and oral corpora of the Czech national corpus.
- Learning outcomes
- The aim of the course students are able:
1. to use methodological research tools and procedures actively and effectively when solving the particular issue;
2. to interpret the ascertained linguistic phenomena;
3. to analyse mentally with the aim to summarize research conclusions;
4. to apply acquired knowledge and abilities when creating quality expert texts and when presenting them. - Syllabus
- 1. Particular methods of a linguistic research.
- 2. Core and function of a computer-aided processing of the Czech language.
- 3. Linguistic corpora. Corpora of the Czech national corpus.
- 4. Specifics of searching linguistic data in written corpora of the Czech national corpus.
- 5. Specifics of searching linguistic data in oral corpora of the Czech national corpus.
- 6. Possibilities of using methods and techniques of corpus research when studying linguistic data.
- 7. Main principles of corpus data interpretation. Research results processing and interpreting.
