- Course objectives
- Reading primary works of Russian literature is necessary not only for teaching literary subjects, but also represents an indispensable foundation for contextual connection of understanding of Russian history, culture, cultural studies, etc. List of literary works for home-reading covers various genres, styles and currents; especially writers who belong to the world-famous classics. The seminar is based on a controlled discussions that take place on a given topic. Students read separately given literary works, at the seminar they consult their questions, concerns, analysis and interpretations.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students gain the habit of reading in Russian; understand the style of a particular author; interpret specific literary work; develop their critical thinking not only about literature; understand the specific manifestations of various currents in Russian literature.

- During the semester, the student has to choose two topics from the syllabus. Read the works and describe the impact these works have on Russian literature and culture (for example, its reflection in other genres, other authors, other centuries).
