Course objectives
The aim of this course is to acquire basic knowledge of the practical Russian language. Students are obliged to read and listen to Russian texts and work with the Russian Internet.
The course builds on Practical Language - Seminar 2 (RJ2019).
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able:
to discuss the conversational topics;
to express their views with using a new vocabulary;
to apply grammatical and stylistic knowledge of the Russian language in written and verbal communication.
Syllabus
  • 1.-2. Sport: yesterday and today. Movement Verbs.
  • 3.-4. National cuisine: Russian and Czech. Numerals, fractions. Substantial adjectives. Regions of the Czech Republic: known and unknown. Compound adjectives.
  • 5.-6. Regions of Russia: known and unknown. A family of declining proper names.
  • 7.-8. Repetition. The world of human feelings and feelings. Spelling Adverbs.
  • 9.-10. Health and a healthy way of life. Combining verbs with nouns in Russian.
  • 11.-12. Nations and nationalities. Possessive adjectives. Repetition.

Teaching methods
Seminar, class discussion on given topics, homework, group projects within the areas discussed, reading and listening of Russian texts.
Assessment methods
Credit includes two parts:
a) Written test (75% of correct anwers is needed to pass).
b) Oral part: the discussion with the teacher, the reading (Russian book(s) – 350 p.) and the listening (Russian movie). The student will also bring a vocabulary exercise book, which will contain at least 50 new words.

Grammar accuracy, content and used vocabulary, correct pronunciation and the use of correct intonation structures are evaluated.
