- Course objectives
- There is currently a global economic, transport and communication system. Students should obtain basic information about these systems, their basic location factors (including their transformation over time). It is important for students to understand the functioning of different economic activities in individual areas, their development trends and mainly their interdependence and interconnection creating a global network of not only economic but also social relations through the cause-effect system. The course focuses mainly on the geography of agriculture and industry as productive sectors of economy, geography of services, transport and tourism as non-productive sectors of the economy.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- Explain and demonstrate examples of patterns of spatial distribution of production and non-productive sectors and their interconnection at local, regional and global levels, in relation to physical-geographic and socio-economic localization factors and their development over time.
- Use examples to demonstrate the uneven distribution of resources on Earth (where resources are produced, where they are consumed, and where financial flows from production are directed).
- Explain and demonstrate, on examples from the environment, the positive and negative impacts of production and non-production activities on the environment.
- Use relevant data to analyze the development and status of manufacturing and non-productive activities on a local and global scale.
