Course objectives
The subject Canadian French focuses on the diversity of French beyond the borders of France. The aim is to introduce the specifics of Canadian French, more precisely its queue variants. After a brief introduction to French outside France, a brief outline of Canada's history and the origins and position of French in this area, students will be acquainted with its phonetic, phonological, morphological and, above all, lexical traits. On the basis of listening (monologues, songs) and analysis of texts, its characteristic features will be presented.
Learning outcomes
After the course student will be able to: - give basic information about French in the international context and its status; - briefly discuss about the history of Canada; - identify specifics of the Canadian variant of French and learn to recognize them; - analyze spoken and written text with linguistic (phonological, phonological, morphological, syntactic and lexical) specifics; - perceive the linguistic diversity of the Francophone world; - apply acquired knowledge in practice.
