Course objectives
This course will primarily be based upon Units 12-14 in Outcomes Advanced.
Through practice, students will become more comfortable and more proficient using new complex structures. They will also develop a more sophisticated sense of the subtleties of English, (collocations, connotations, register, etc). This course provides practical application for English including speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students will have opportunities to improve their language use through discussions, exercises and assignments. The course offers various techniques of language learning and teaching while developing a broader understanding of methodology and English speaking cultures. Students will learn to analyze the language for teaching purposes and will be aware of the fact that they have changed their roles - from being the users of the language into being the source of information about the language and language model providers.
Learning outcomes
During the course the students will submit one paper, make a presentation covering one of the topics discussed in class, will continue to compile their learners' portfolios (an ongoing assignment of 3 semesters); They will understand and be able to discuss topics included in the course, make arguments for and against, discuss and evaluate advantages and disadvantages of particular issues; present, explain and justify their views. Students will become more aware of how language and culture are intrinsically connected and mutually dependent.
