- Course objectives
- This course provides practical application for English including speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students will have opportunities to improve their language use through discussions, exercises and assignments. The course offers various techniques of language learning and teaching while developing a broader understanding of methodology and English-speaking cultures.
Students will learn to analyze the language for teaching purposes and will be aware of the fact that they have changed their roles - from being the users of the language into being the source of information about the language and language model providers. - Learning outcomes
- Students will increase the proficiency in all four skills: speaking, reading, listening and writing. Students will expand the existing vocabulary and improve their language register. Students will improve their analytical skill of learning materials. Students will be able to express their opinions in a balanced way, highlighting advantages and disadvantages. Students will have had a chance to give an in-class presentation and improve their skill.
- Syllabus
- The core resource of the course is the textbook New English File Upper-intermediate, units 5, 6, 7.
The student's book will partially be covered in class; the rest will be assigned as self study; additional materials will be available in the online mood-link course support; students are expected to do all exercises assigned by the teacher.

- Assessment methods
- Attendance is important but not required.
The students are expected to catch up with the work load on their own if they miss the classes.
The continuous assessment will consist of an oral in-class presentation, a progress test, a written assignment and forum participation.
In order to pass the course, the students must achieve 70 per cent on the final written test, 70 per cent on the final speaking test and obtain at least 70 points from the course as a whole. - Language of instruction
