Course objectives
The course sets the target to introduce students with principles of academic texts and science and professional techniques. The course also presents to students academic ethics and correct principles of adopted information quotation in own texts.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: a) prepare and write an expert text or paper; b) put into practice the basic methods of academic writing; c) respect the ethical rules of academic writing.
Syllabus
  • The course covers topics such as: A) Preparation for writing projects, • choose issue and problems, • formulate the important questions and hypothesis, • adopt the paragraphs and structure for analysis, • ethical rules of academic writing, • footnotes and quotations. B) Style and methods of academic writing: • style and technique of academic writing; how to write academic text, • explaining and justifying in academic text. The fundamental principles of academic text writing, abstract.

Teaching methods
Lectures and class discussion, textual analysis, problem method, controlled discussion.
Assessment methods
Request: the fulfilment exercises in IS. To finish successfully, passing the written exam is required. Students must correctly answer at least 60 % of all questions.
