Course objectives
The aim of the course is to: master other critical thinking methods practically that develop reading literacy in the Czech language on the 2nd stage of basic school; to comprehend conditions for a development of reading literacy at school. Gained educational methods correspond to the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education requirements. The course develops the knowledge and primarily practical skills the undergraduates get in the lessons of The Alternative Methods of Teaching the Czech Language I.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able: 1. to use the alternative methods - the methods should develop active, effective learning, then to develop work with a text and creativity;
2. to use the methods of the critical thinking in teaching Czech, especially in grammar and stylistic lessons at the primary school;
3. to use critical thinking methods for a development of reading literacy;
4. argue their and their colleagues’ didactic performances when presenting a lesson plan.

Teaching methods
A seminar, active class discussions among students about topics being talked over, class presentation - application of discussed methods and teaching strategies, homeworks
Assessment methods
The subject is ended by a credit test. The students are called to do homework in the course of the term. Credit requirements: a student is supposed to present a lesson plan that contains application of the methods on particular topics of the Czech language curriculum. Detailed requirements are available in each term in Study Materials of the course in the Information System MU, the folder Learning Materials.
