- Course objectives
- The target of the lecture: Based on general knowledge of regional geography of French-speaking countries (in relation to the subject FJHC_GFZS "Geography of French-speaking countries - seminar) to achieve the ability of targeted acquiring of new concrete knowledge about the discussed regions and the ability of creating their synthesis in the comprehensive framework of developmental correlation of partial geographic spheres - with emphasis on the problem of application in the economic and commercial activity. The seminar follows the lecture. Work in the seminar is focused on analysis of demographic, economic and social factors, and reflect on current developments. Students work with various authentic materials (maps, graphs, texts).
- Learning outcomes
- After the end of the course the students are able to: • define the definition of French-speaking countries from several points of view, explain the notion of „francophone space“ of individual regions • divide individual francophone regions according to several points of view (i.e. the degree of colonization, the continents) • be well acquainted with the maps of francophone regions, localize them on the map of the World, describe the basic physical and socio-economical characteristics (islands, peninsulas, mountains, rivers, lakes, cities, administrative regions etc) • understand and explain the creation of francophone space from the point of view and explain their personal relationship with a particular document. • Be able to describe natural and socio-economical characteristics of the regions and then make a synthesis of both characteristics and make a complex evaluation. • Describe the level of “francophone” of the Czech Republic and its relation to other francophone countries.
