- Course objectives
- The aim of the course English for Special Educators A is to develop harmoniously students’ language and professional skills through a series of tasks to be completed throughout the semester. The tasks are set at the B1 level (CEFR) and target the following areas: - Use of English - Awareness of the language-learning process - Formal email writing - Presenting and giving feedback - Listening and discussion - Specialist vocabulary.
- Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course, the students will be able to: - understand specialist vocabulary connected to the topic of education and their field of study; - introduce themselves/their field of study/professional goals; -share their ideas and discuss different issues associated with the topic of special needs education; - show a good command of selected grammar structures at the B1 level of the CEFR; - develop as active and aware learners.

- Teaching methods
- The 100-minute weekly seminars serve to develop students' language skills and competencies. We also work on the specific sub-skills needed to complete the course tasks. Classroom activities include pair and group work, pair/group/class discussions, videos for listening comprehension, grammar quizzes, vocabulary practice, and more.
- Assessment methods
- Credit requirements: 1) Attendance (only 2 unexcused absences allowed) 2) Preparation for each class (if a student is not prepared to participate in the class activities = absence) 3) Complete all tasks and gain a minimum of 70 % of the total points (49 out of 70 points). - Language Learning Journey (14 points) - 8 Grammar quizzes (8 points) - 2 Vocabulary quizzes (6 points) - Formal email (5 points) - Presentation (15 points) - Peer feedback on the presentation x2 (8 points) - Video mediation (14 points)
