- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide students with the basic theoretical background of teaching literature at primary school and, above all, to show the possibilities and forms of concrete teaching of literary education (problem-based, activating, creative, traditional and based on current trends). The emphasis is on a guided process of literary communication, set in the broader context of primary school teaching.
- Learning outcomes
- Students: - In the course they learn the basic theory of teaching literature and especially the methods of its practical application, - after completing the course, they are oriented in the methods of teaching literature education at primary school, they are able to apply traditional and modern, activating and creative methods and forms of work, to modify them in accordance with the specific content, teaching conditions and new trends.
- Syllabus
- Block 1: Basic factors of teaching literature, aims and content of literary education, literary communication. Concept of literary education in the curriculum, key competences, cross-cutting themes and literary education. Types of literary education lessons. Pupils as recipients of culture, pupils as readers and spectators. Individual reading, reading workshops. Block 2: Methodology of teaching literature at the 2nd level of primary school and the position of teaching methods in the school. Methods of the different phases of a regular (mixed) lesson of literary education. Problem tasks and situations in literary education - aspects of problem questions and tasks (typology). Interpretation of a literary text, didactic aspects of interpretation, methods of didactic interpretation, interpretation and critical thinking, creative interpretation. Didactic games. Block 3: Reading books and textbooks for pupils of older school age - conception, content, didactic equipment, management apparatus, methodological manuals. Designing own teaching materials. Organisational forms of teaching. Block 4: Application: concrete examples of possibilities of working with epic texts (concrete examples of epics). Insight into selected methods of creative writing and creative dramatics. Block 5: Application: concrete examples of the possibilities of working with lyrical texts (concrete examples of lyricism). Active involvement in peer assessment. 3. Discussion of the final form of the work.
