- Course objectives
- The lectures will through selected chapters discuss the issues of Czech literature between years 1945 to 1968. Chapters will be sorted into blocks of poetry, prose and drama (complete with insight into contemporary literary studies). Poetry will focus on groups of poets (and on the development of production of their members even after disbanding of these group – e. g. Group 42), while not omitting authors that were not members of any of these groups, when their productions belong to the constitutive elements of Czech literature (e. g. Skácel, Mikulášek). The block of prose and drama will be presented through monographic method, while the continuity of the literary process will be provided through emphasizing the thematic connections of some works in given period (e. g. so-called second wave of reaction to the World War 2, historical themes, etc.) or the connections in the same literary movement (e. g. existentialism, surrealism, etc.) or genre (e. g. journals).
- Learning outcomes
- Students will acquire knowledge of the trends of Czech literature in the postwar period. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of important authors of the literary process. They will strive to deepen their knowledge regarding literary studies and improve their abilities in order to communicate with a literary work more effectively.

- Teaching methods
- Students will get a broader knowledge of trends and movements in Czech of the given period. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities and relate them to the specific nature of their poetics. They will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills in order to communicate with a literary work more effectively.

- Type of completion: credit Credit requirements: active participation, min. 80% and a written credit test covering lecture topics.
