- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquire and deepen clear knowledge of fundamentals of chemistry and biology. Emphasis is placed on the logical structure of this discipline and on acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching practical teaching at secondary school. For these reasons, the lecture and seminar includes a large number of basic and advanced examples and emphasizes the relationship of the subject matter to practice, nature, household, medical, food, technical applications, etc.
Knowledge : Comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of chemistry and biology with emphasis on the relationship of the subject matter to practice, nature, household, technical applications, etc.
Skills : Be able to identify patterns of chemical and biological nature, especially in technical and medical applications. Perform sufficient analysis of processes and perform subsequent calculations of simple application examples. To know the relation of the subject matter to practical applications. Be able to make a qualified estimate of values. The student carries out his / her own research and inquiry-oriented investigations that help develop cognitive skills.

- After completing the course, students should know and be able to:
- Basic Principles of chemistry and biology.
- Identify principles of chemistry and biology of natural processes, medical, food and technical applications.

- Periodic set of elements. Chemical bond. Nomenclature of inorganic compounds.
- Chemical reactions. Chemical laws.
- Basic concepts and formulas of organic chemistry. Biochemistry.
- Food chemistry. Chemistry and agriculture
- Introduction to biology, reproduction, respiration, photosynthesis.
- Plant and animal cell, cell division, heredity and variability.
- Living systems and environment, food chains, consumers, reducers and producers
- Viruses and bacteria - meaning, causative agents of diseases, transmission of diseases, immunity.
