Course objectives
- to introduce to the students the basic differences in various areas of life in French-speaking countries - to prepare students for various situations of everyday life and for possible intercultural misunderstandings and critical incidents - to develop intercultural communication competence, including French language competence
Learning outcomes
- be aware of the intercultural differences of one's own and the destination country - recognize intercultural misunderstanding and respond appropriately to them - be more open to other cultures - be linguistically prepared for various situations of everyday life at university or at work in French-speaking countries

  • Cultural shock. Cultural misunderstanding.
  • Intercultural competence development.
  • Studies at universities in France and French-speaking countries / work at French companies and institutions.
  • Practical information: traveling and accommodation.
  • Writing and taking exams in French at university / Writing at work: analyse, synthèse, commentaire composé, dissertation, compte rendu.
  • Group projects, cooperation and presentations.
  • Formal and informal communication with teachers and students at university in French / formal and informal interactions with colleagues during internships in French.
  • Life at university and student associations in France and French-speaking countries.
