Course objectives
The lecture follows the Syntax of Professional French 1 and includes a theoretical explanation of the composition of sentences in professional French. Knowledge is practiced and deepened in the seminar on the examples of professional texts and analysis of selected sentences and exercises. The aim of the seminar is to enable students to gain a contrastive view of the French sentence, to understand its composition and the specifics of individual types of subordinate clauses in professional texts.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student is able to: understand the structure of sentences, analyze sentence members in a simple sentence and in a sentence, recognize the types of sentences in a sentence and orient themselves in their mutual relations, explain the syntactic connection between morphology and syntax in professional French. language, interpret the specifics of syntactic analysis of professional texts.

  • Subordinate clauses in professional textes: 1. Relative clauses. 2. Subject clauses. 3. Direct and indirect speech. 4. Final clause. Consecutive clauses. 5. Causal clauses. 6. Conditional clauses. 7. Concessive clauses. 8. Time clauses. 9. Comparative clauses. 10. Punctuation, differences between Czech and French.
