- The course is designed as a compulsory optional in the PhD study programme of Social Pedagogy.

- Course objectives
- The course objective is to reflect current theories of globalization, internationalization and multiculturalism considering the post-colonial discourse in the context of research in social education. The Phd students will relate this discourse concept to their dissertation thesis. The students will use a critical text analysis to develop their ability to reflect on the current concepts and trends in the field of Social Education. The students will also work on their skills of writing articles for journals.
- Learning outcomes
- PhD students will be able to: • provide their own definition of multiculturalism and internacionalization in the globalized world; • explain current concepts of globalized society in the context of social education development; • reflect current theories and key terms in the field of multiculturalism and internationalization in the context of globalization; • critically assess, analyze and discuss academic texts; • apply theoretical concepts on current issues in the field of multicultural education in the Czech Republic; • prepare a study of a selected theory for an academic journal.
- Syllabus
- 1. Describing principles of writing academic texts and analytical reading using an example of selected theoretical essays. 2. Postcolonial discourse in transnational modernity. 3. Globalization, hyperconnectivity and cosmopolitan knowledge in (Social) Education. 4. Theory of multiculturalism, social stratification and practical actions. 5. Character of internationalization from the perspective of educational reality. 6. Social Education in postcolonial paradigms of knowledge. 7. Reflection of the internationalization impacts based on personal experience during Research Internship. 8. Comparison of discoursive trends in writing academic essays focusing on social-critical presentation of the functioning of globalized societies.
